If you don't have enough free space on your hard drive and you can't afford to erase too many files, you can store them on a FTP server, where they will stay safe, regardless of what you do in your local folders. With FileZilla, you can access your FTP server immediately, transfer your files and manage them without any effort. The software offers a wide range of useful features, like a tabbed user interface, site management and transfer queue capabilities, support for FTP over SSL and TLS and for SSH file transfer protocol (SFTP) and much more. The best part is that all functions are easy to understand, even for novice users.

The main user interface consists of several panels, on which you can manage local or remote files and sites, as well as connection and transfer logs. Except for the local and remote file managers, the panels can be hidden, by clicking a series of icons, located on a toolbar. To connect to a FTP server, you have to specify its IP or host name, your username and password and a port, below the toolbar, and click a button. What's more, you can establish additional connections, to other servers, by specifying the necessary information in the same fields. Once you hit the connection button, the software will display options for replacing the current connection and for establishing a separate connection on a different tab.

Files and folders can be transferred between the local hard drive and a FTP server by right clicking them and selecting the corresponding options or by simply clicking and dragging them from one panel to another. Successful and failed transfers, as well as queued files are listed on separate tabs, in the lower region of the interface, where you can also view the progress of your current uploads or downloads.

While connected to a server, you may compare the contents of your local and remote folders and enable a synchronized browsing feature, to make the folders on both sides identical, as you navigate through your local data. The software's search function will help you locate specific files much faster. Furthermore, you can toggle various filters, for images, temp and backup files and others, for the local or remote folders.

Pros

FileZilla's controls are well organized and easy to understand. The software allows you to establish multiple connections, on separate tabs. You can transfer files by clicking and dragging them and you can also enable a synchronized browsing feature.

Cons

There are no obvious functionality gaps to mention. With FileZilla's powerful and efficient capabilities, managing data on one or more FTP servers can be done in a fast, secure and comfortable manner.
